Dell and Foghorn Team Up for IIoT on the Edge

FogHorn this week announced a new collaboration with Dell EMC designed to offer industrial and commercial customers "end to end" solutions for industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) deployments featuring edge computing technologies.

FogHorn specializes in intelligent edge software; this partnership will feature FogHorn's software on Dell hardware via its partner program.

"By teaming up with Dell as a trusted leader for hardware in the IoT space, FogHorn positions itself as the go-to provider of edge intelligence for commercial and industrial IoT deployments," commented Kevin Duffy, vice president of business development at FogHorn, in a prepared statement. "Customers now have access to a best-in-class solution to simplify and streamline their IoT deployments, which allows them to unleash the power of their data so they can get to results more quickly."

"With more thanĀ 75 billion IoT connected devices predicted to be installed by 2025, making technology to manage and process the data collected from these devices is crucial," said Ron Pugh, vice president and general manager for the Americas, Dell EMC OEM Solutions. "FogHorn enables our end-point and gateway products to become smart edge solutions by layering their edge intelligence directly into our hardware, driving insights at any point in their IoT deployments."

Edge computing is a method of distributed computing designed to achieve increased real-time performance and bypass bottlenecks by having the processing take place as close to where the data is stored as possible, instead of first moving the data to, for example, a centralized cloud location. This can be useful in processing-heavy situations often found in advanced IIoT deployments.
